PMS Premenstrual Syndrome Information
     

PMS and You

A great number of women have for years been suffering from symptoms caused by the hormonal imbalances in their bodies. Yet the women did not know how to identify their problems because they did not understand what was happening to them. And even though they knew something was wrong, they often suppressed their feelings and did not tell anyone what they though, because they feared they might be ridiculed.

The women’s movement, which increased awareness of the female body showed the need for improved women’s health care, freed women from inhibitions about discussing their health problems, Women began to realize that they could help each other and themselves by sharing their health experiences with their doctors, families, friends, and co-workers, This new ability to communicate helped to educate many women to the existence of what has come to be known as premenstrual syndrome, or PMS.

Today, awareness of PMS is considered the first important step in combating the symptoms associated with the syndrome. Following awareness comes understanding of the causes of PMS, and of the treatments that are available. The facts must be made clear. Premenstrual syndrome is neither an imaginary condition nor a real but incurable condition.
